About Camp Ruffy...
The name "Camp Ruffy" was chosen by our children - this property has always been intended to be a magic place for them and our 17 grandchildren to experience what will become memories they will love and nurture for the rest of their lives.
Accommodation is now available at "Camp Ruffy" for families and special interest groups through Airbnb.
Camp Ruffy is a relaxing hideaway for those who wish to enjoy and explore a peaceful natural place in quite an isolated location to recharge the batteries well away from the mainstream madness. Camp Ruffy generates it's own electricity using both solar and hydro, source it's own water, grows it's own fruit & vegetables, enjoys it's own fresh eggs and as a hobby we raise pure bred Damara sheep.
The property has much untouched mountainous country except for some well defined walking/4wd trails, two spring fed streams, one meandering through a large wetland bog valley with all sorts of ferns and the other with a continuous line of waterfalls cascading down over and about enormous granite boulders. We also have enough native grassland to satisfy our Damara flock.

We regularly see Koala, Echidna, Bogong Moth, Kangaroo, Wallaby, Wombat, Wedge Tailed Eagle, Crimson Rosella, Eastern Rosella, Galah, White Cockatoo, Gang Gang Cockatoo, Yellow Tail Black Cockatoo, Willy Wagtails, Blue Wrens and of course from time to time Red Belly Black snakes and Eastern Browns.

Damara are a very low maintenance breed of sheep but not a no maintenance breed. They need drenching for worms from time to time and their lambs require protection from foxes Their body fat is primarily stored in their "fat" tail making their meat very lean. These are a hair breed therefore no shearing and no fly strike.
