Camp Ruffy

To date we have seen the following indigenous wildlife on the property... Koala (regularly in the backyard and elsewhere), Echidna, Bogong Moth, Kangaroo, Wallaby, Wombat, Wedge Tailed Eagle, Crimson Rosella, Eastern Rosella,  Galah,  White Cockatoo, Gang Gang Cockatoo, Yellow Tail Black Cockatoo, Willy Wagtails, Blue Wrens and various other bird species.

One of our busy little resident Echidnas

We have a cross section of reptiles including Blue Tongue Lizards, Red Belly Black snakes and Eastern Brown snakes - these last two are quite OK so long as us humans be wary of where we walk in summer and don't frequent their obvious haunts during the warmer months. The 100 metres or so all around the house is kept free of any sort of rubbish and the grass is regularly cut.

Sightings of introduced species include Deer, Rabbit, Foxes plus shock horror - a Black Panther (yes, dinki di - much bigger than a fully grown wooly Merino sheep seen by 4 adults and 3 children at 10.00am on a Saturday 23rd Oct 2010 - the day after that, our son found a recently killed  headless lamb???). since then the writer viewed the "Panther" for some time from the tractor (plus iPhone pics) and a local couple experienced it walk in front of them while driving their car on our driveway in the middle of the day.

Various locations around Camp Ruffy are sign posted for easier navigation after our 17 grandchildren (in birthdate order)...
