Camp Ruffy enjoys an effective mobile coverage from the Telstra tower on Mount Wombat, other carriers here are at time of writing are pretty much unreliable to worthless. This is why we ask that organisers supply us the names and phone numbers of all in their group, and identify which are Telstra supported during the FIRE DANGER season.

We text all attendees the day before arrival with safety information to help the group organiser get the message to all.

We may need to alert your group to a fast moving bushfire coming towards Camp Ruffy, or possibly a tree fall that is blocking a local fire escape road.

The VIC EMERGENCY APP will advise you of bushfires, floods, trees down and approaching potentially dangerous storms BUT only if you have it setup on your mobile device.

RADIO MONITORING

Select 97.7 FM - our local ABC radio station for all local bush fire information and consistent updates.

In case of bushfire, Resort Ruffy is protected by it’s own fire suppression system.

The system is started by Roger from virtually anywhere using a smartphone app after live-streaming video of our perimeter.

This is not a toy, it is an expensive professionally installed asset and occupant protection item of equipment that is fed by gravity from our 100,000 litre water tank. Please do not tamper with it.
